about

"420" - įvietinta garso instaliacija Kauno 1-jo forto kareivinių tuneliuose, grojama per 16 kanalų erdvinio garso sistemą. Kompozicija sukurta kaip komplimentari dalis architektūrinio/skulptūrinio ansamblio, centruoto ties I-jo pasaulinio karo metais forto skliaute pramušta skyle, kurioje inkrustuota architekto Manto Maziliausko metalo konstrukcija/skulptūra „Pa(si)matymas“. Pavadinimas "420" - nuoroda į vokiško "Didžiosios Bertos" pabūklo kalibrą, kuriuo buvo apšaudyta Kauno tvirtovė. Minimaliais garso motyvais abstrakčiai interpretuojama karo, nerimo, destrukcijos, mirties ir rimties tematika. Skulptūra bei garso instaliacija buvo pristatyta 2021 Spalio 14d. specialiaus renginio metu. Šis įrašas - ne tiek autentiškas dokumentas, kiek realios akustinės erdvės virtuali reprezentacija, atkurta panaudojant "convolution reverb" techniką bei lokacijoje įrašytus tunelių aidus.

Rekomenduojama klausytis per ausines.

"420" was a site-specific sound installation, located in Kaunas 1st fort barracks, and played through a 16-channel spatial audio system. The work was created as a complimentary part of a sculptural/architectural ensemble, centered around a hole in the fort's ceiling that was pierced during WW1, and the sculptural metal construction encrusted within it ("Pa(si)matymas" by the architect Mantas Maziliauskas). The name "420" refers to the caliber of the German "Big Bertha" canon, used in the attacks against the Kaunas fortress. Themes of war, anxiety, destruction, death and tranquility are interpreted through minimal sonic motifs. The sculpture and sound installation were presented on October 14th, 2021 during a special event. This recording is not so much an authentic document, as a virtual representation of the real acoustic space, mixed using convolution reverb and the tunnel impulse responses recorded in the location.

Headphones recommended.
